Bad news for Loris Baz

A smash-up with Pol Espargaro at the Silverstone race means Loris Baz will miss the Misano GP, thanks to a broken foot and other damage to his leg.

Baz has been piloting a Ducati for Avintia Racing this year, currently sitting in 20th place with 24 points — not a likely podium threat. In any case, Xavi Fores is getting the nod to replace him. Fores has plenty of experience in the old two-stroke 125 cc series and Moto2, of course, but he’s currently riding a Ducati for Barni Racing in World Superbike. This will be his first MotoGP start.

“Riding a MotoGP bike is a dream for every rider, and I’m looking forward to start the weekend to enjoy and live the experience,” Baz said. “It will be crucial not to make any mistake and don’t get hurt, because I have to race in Germany next week with my WSBK team.” Hey, at least he’s still got his mind on his day job.
