Ontario BMW GS Challenge coming at end of September

The fourth annual Ontario BMW GS Challenge is going to run at the end of September at the Horseshoe Resort in Barrie.

Clinton Smout, the instructor at the Fundy Adventure Rally, will be hosting the event through his new BMW Performance Riding Centre (an offshoot of his long-running SMART Riding Adventures school). Clinton is the only certified BMW Motorrad GS Off Road instructor in Ontario. CMG went to his school to be trained up recently, and you can read all about it here.

Although it’s called the GS Challenge, the event is open to riders on any brand of bike. The fun kicks off Friday, Sept. 30, with a day of off-road training. Saturday, participants will take place in field games and rides through forest trails, as well as a street ride. Sunday has more challenging riding as well as strength and mechanical skills challenges. You should make sure you have good adventure-capable tires, as well as crash guards and off-road riding equipment for the event.

The cost for the event is $229. For that, you get a full day of off-road training, a welcome meal on Friday and breakfast Saturday, a T-shirt and prizes, and test rides on BMW GS models as well as trials bikes. Accommodations and meals are not included, but are available at the horseshoe Resort as well as a nearby KOA.
