Miguel Duhamel, one of the most dominant competitors in American racing of his time, is headed to the AMA Hall of Fame.
Duhamel joins offroad racer Jack Johnson, dirt tracker Ronnie Jones, frame builder Jeff Cole, and female motorcycle legend Gloria Struck in this year’s induction class.
Duhamel was a force in AMA roadracing in the 1990s and 2000s, winning the Superbike title in 1995 (the only Canadian to do so), as well as five Supersport titles. Add in his MotoGP appearances, his FIM Endurance championship, his five Daytona 200 wins, two AMA Formula Xtreme crowns, and it’s easy to see why the AMA picked him, despite his Canadian roots. Plus, he’s also the winningest Supersport racer in AMA history, with over three times as many wins (40+ victories!) as his closest rival for that title. He has a total of 86 wins in the AMA.
Duhamel will be inducted to the Hall this October; this year’s induction ceremony. As far as we can tell, there isn’t an official date set for the ceremony, but it will happen during the weekend of the AIME motorcycle show (Oct. 13-16) in Orlando, Florida. And that timing is interesting, as Duhamel says he’s going to race the Bol D’Or this September — he might end up with even more hardware on his trophy shelf before the ceremony.
A more deserving inductee one cannot find. Miguel was fast, fearless, and fans simply loved him.
He was in his hey-day when I first started getting into motorcycles! So glad to see his efforts being recognized and honoured.
I agree that he should have a street named after him, but I bet some Quebec beauracrat would immediately try to ban motorcycles from riding on it…

Miguel was inducted into the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2012, and Yvon in 2007.
If Miguel would have been a car racer with all the succès he had, there will be a street to his name in Montreal. Well deserved…?
