“Based on a true story” : Discovery to air show on Harley-Davidson’s origins

This fall, the Discovery Channel is airing a three-part miniseries about the Motor Company’s origins, titled Harley and the Davidsons.

How factual will the show be? The trailer above will tell you all, by announcing it’s “based on a true story.” Hrmmmm. Nevertheless, this is a motorcycle show that does not feature choppers or the Teutuls or supposed adventure riders venturing into the bush with a full support crew, so it could be viewed as a step in the right direction (a pun that literally writes itself …).

Enough cheap jokes! According to the trailer above, the show will begin airing on Sept. 5, although it’s not clear if that’s true in Canada or just the US. If anyone sees this, please let us know — we’re highly curious if there will be a crossover with History’s popular show, Ancient Aliens, possibly starring Valentino Rossi.

  1. Okay, I tried – REALLY TRIED to watch the first episode.
With commercials every 3 minutes (or so it seemed), a plot line that read lack a bad comic book, and actors that couldn’t have been more wooden if they’d been carved from trees I gave up.
The action sequences were utter rubbish – speeded up footage for the most part, and the constant slam against Hendee, Merkel and Indian in general was embarrassing.
The only saving grace was the bikes themselves, I don’t know if they were originals or reproductions, but the 7 or 8 minutes that we actually got to see and hear them run was a tiny consolation.
I’d put this in the category of a 3 hour Motor Company infomercial, and a pathetic one at that.
There goes my career as a TV and film critic I guess, no one will hire me now….
