Honda recall

Problem: On certain motorcycles, condensation in the engine can result in a failure of the connecting rod bearing. If the connecting rod bearing were to fail, it could result in an engine stall. A connecting rod bearing failure could also cause the engine to seize.
Correction:  Dealers will replace the crankshaft.

  1. My son just took his in to dealer to fix under the recall notice. Got the bike back yesterday and less then 20km later it failed on highway at 100km an hour. engine seized, wheel locked up. could have killed him.
    Way to fix the problem Honda. Looks like the replacement parts aren’t any better.

  2. Replace the crankshaft? That’s going to hurt. How long will it take the dealer to do that and what are the chances of them messing up? I wouldn’t be happy about this…

    • A lot of seasonal dealers will be doing most of these replacements over the winter. Its a good way to keep your guys busy, minimize customer down time and with the crazy rush of the riding season over it allows the mechanics to take their time and maximize work accuracy.

    How does one get condensation in a crankcase unless you take the bike swimming ?
