While there was no MotoGP race Sunday, there was a Moto2 race at Aragon’s CEV event (Spanish national series), and it almost ended in tragedy, thanks to a fiery crash.
On Lap 2, Xavi Cardelus managed to crash and have the fuel tank fly off his bike in the process. The gas-filled tank then bounced across the track, exploding when struck by another racer. Three other racers were taken out by the resulting fireball (Michael Aquino, Jacopo Cretaro, Thibaut Gourin). It doesn’t sound as if anyone is hurt badly, but it was a very scary moment.

It is Swedish rider Pontus Duerlund who hit the fuel tank.
