RideApart sold!

Motojournalism website RideApart has been sold.

RideApart is the descendant of Hell For Leather, the NYC-then-California-based website that caused considerable stir in the industry a few years back. As Jensen Beeler points out in this piece on Asphalt & Rubber, there have been plenty of changes since Hell For Leather’s heyday. The brains behind the site tried different revenue models, with varying success, and original frontman Wes Siler left to work on a blog about dog camping (his words, not ours).

Now, RideApart is going to be owned by Florida-based motorsport website conglomerate Motor1.com. What that means for future editorial direction remains to be seen (they’re also looking for a new managing editor). For now, there are no bold statements claiming the site is about to fix everything that’s wrong with motojournalism, unlike some of the recent competition, so we wouldn’t expect any great changes …
