IOMTT hero Mark Miller to race electric Zero at Pikes Peak

The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb just got more interesting, with news that experienced racer Mark Miller will enter on an electric from Zero Motorcycles.

Miller has three podiums and one first-place finish at the Isle of Man TT. He’s raced there for the last 11 years, and holds the lap record for an American; his heroics aboard the MotoCzysc battery bike won him the TT Zero in 2010, and earned him a spot in the Mark Neale film Charge. He’s also raced at the Macau Grand Prix 16 times, and in AMA Superbike competition. He’s a legit competitor.

Now, Miller’s racing for Hollywood Electrics, the team that won Pikes Peak’s Electric Production class 2013-2015. Hollywood Electrics provided two Zero FXS electric sportbikes for this year’s race. The Hillcimb’s return to a ban on clip-ons means the supermotos make sense, even though Zero does sell sportbikes.

Jake Holden will be Miller’s teammate. Holden was second in his class, 2nd in his class and third overall at the 2013 PPIHC. He doesn’t have Miller’s broad experience, but he does know how to get on the podium at the mountain, so the two of them should make for plenty of interesting racing this year.
