Marc Marquez (Honda) is still the man to beat at Austin, as he won the MotoGP main event today, continuing his unbeaten streak.
Marquez has won every event at Austin since the track opened in 2013. Second place went to Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha), third went to Andrea Iannone (Ducati).
The top 10 was rounded out by Maverick Vinales (Suzuki), Aleix Espergaro (Suzuki), Scott Redding (Ducati), Pol Espargaro (Yamaha), Michele Pirro (Ducati), Hector Barbera (Ducati), and Stefan Bradl (Aprilia).
The weekend was likely especially sweet for Marquez when he saw his points lead over last season’s rival Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) extend even further, as Rossi had clutch trouble, then crashed out. It was his first crash since the Aragon GP in 2014, ending his 25-race points streak. Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa also earned DNFs.
