Stacey Nesbitt headed to Europe

Stacey Nesbitt carves up the competition in the Honda CBR250 cup

Stacey Nesbitt, the female Canadian roadracer who won the 2012 Honda CBR250 series and most recently piloted a 600 in CSBK’s pro ranks, is headed to Europe.

Nesbitt has shown plenty of promise as she honed her track craft the past few years, and has raced a one-off event in Qatar before — this isn’t her first trip overseas. But it’s a move that takes her career on a new path, as for the past couple years, she’s focused on Canadian racing aboard her Honda CBR600RR.

Now, she’ll be back on Honda machinery, but in Europe. There are 24 male riders and 6 female riders in the European Junior Cup (the males and females ride together, but their points are counted towards separate series). This year, they’re riding identical race-prepped CBR650Fs. She’ll face riders from around the world this year, and competition will likely be tough. However, this is a canny move if Nesbitt wants to continue to see her race career progress — if you want to ride in the big leagues, you’ve got to make the move overseas.
