Scottish-Canadian roadracer Ben Young has announced his plans to enter the CSBK championship series for 2016.
Young (born in Scotland, based in Sudbury) has been doing a lot of traveling in recent years. Since he last raced a full season in Canada in 2010 (he won the PRO GP125 R.A.C.E Championship that year), he’s been riding in various AMA series as well as British Superbike.
Now, he’s returning to Canada to take on the CSBK Pro Superbike championship for the first time. He’s aboard a BMW S1000RR from BMW Motorrad Canada, the same machinery that’s served Jordan Szoke so well for the past few seasons. It’s an interesting move that ought to shake up the status quo in the superbike series, a welcome scenario for everyone except maybe current reigning champion Szoke.
The 2016 Canadian Superbike championship starts on the May 27-29 weekend at the Shannonville track. Series organizers have been busy in the past few weeks, announcing skilled riders signing up for the Pro Superbike class and new sponsorship deals. After a few tough years, could CSBK finally be turning the corner?
I guess this a good time to announce that I will be making my PRO debut in the 2016 CSBK Series in the PRO Sportbike class.
