Triumph releases Thruxton, Thruxton R specs

Triumph has released the spec sheets for their 2016 Thruxton and Thruxton R cafe racers.

As with other machines in their lineup, the Thruxtons are a 1-2 punch: The standard model has basic tires, brakes, and finish, while the R version offers better components (Brembo stoppers, flashier paint and exhaust, Showa USD forks, etc).

Both bikes are more highly tuned than the standard Bonneville they’re based off. Claimed peak output is 96 hp at 6,750 rpm.

  5. I would rather have this engine and upgraded suspension with the styling of the base model.
    Bikes with this semi-retro cafe racer styling don’t do much for me, but I do think the base model is a nice clean-looking standard bike.

    • So $13500 and $15500 for the R – way more more than they used to cost, for euro chic made in Asia. Hmmm. Are we paying for those pics of Beckham sitting on one?
      Plus, we’re to get excited about 96crank hp from a 1200cc liquid cooled twin, that’s maybe 80 at the wheel on a bike that’s likely gained weight…yawn, I’ll pass.
