Aftermarket light bar offers extra safety

Twisted Throttle is now carrying a made-in-Canada light bar that warns traffic when a motorcyclist is slowing down, instead of just working as a brake indicator.

The problem with the standard brake lights found on motorcycles is that they don’t indicate deceleration when a rider is using hard engine braking to slow down. That can be problematic, especially if you’re being followed by an inattentive driver.

The AdMore light bar combines 81 LEDs with an accelerometer. The unit can work in conjunction with your taillight and brake light, and also augment your signal lights and light up your licence plate. It comes pre-configured to work with most motorcycles once you splice in the wiring, but if you wish, you can attach the light bar to your computer through a microUSB cable to further adjust the display settings.  This lets you set the brake light to modulate, or change the number of times it flashes, change brake light sensitivity, and more.

The wiring harness is CanBus-compatible. Installation takes about an hour, and can be done with basic tools.

The light bar has a  $270 MSRP.  Find out more details at Twisted Throttle’s Canadian website here.

Note that Admore never recommends removing the existing lighting on a bike, due to potential legal issues and possible problems with turn signal flash rates. Make your own call on this!

    • The deceleration algorithm was developed in Romania by Acceda Consulting S.R.L. It is used by Admore and Ohmics.

  1. I’ve got an AdMore Lighting kit that replaces the reflectors on my Givi V35 saddlebags. They not only trigger when I hit the signals, but they also come on when I hit my brake lights. Installation was quite easy and they’ve been going strong for 5 years now.

I also got some of the accessory wiring from Givi and cobbled together a brake light for my top box. It puts the light right in the sight line of following drivers and the effect on them is quite radical. Something like this light bar is a very good idea. Here’s a link to video of how my setup looks in action.
