New 1100 Scrambler in the works?

According to Brit mag Visordown, Ducati maybe about to expand its Scrambler line upward to include an 1100 version. Having already dropped the engine size to 400cc to make the new Sixty2, adding more capacity to make a super Scrambler and expand the already very successful Scrambler line seems like a logical move.

Scrambler project manager Federico Sabbioni, emphasized that an 1100 version would have to stick to the Scrambler format, meaning air-cooled with two-valves per cylinder. However, the last Ducati to use such a motor was the 1100 Monster EVO which was discontinued in 2013. It would require some work to meet current Euro emission standards but we’d still expect a good 90 hp from it which would make for an interesting ride.

  1. With Triumph’s asking over 15 thou for made in Asia Thruxtons now, why wouldn’t Ducati try the same? If the market buys ’em…. though it burns me a bit when I see cheaper but far more authentic CB1100s sitting on showroom floors.
