A Dakar veteran is launching a new off-road training school in BC.
Don Hatton, who has competed at the Dakar rally and the Baja 1000, has kickstarted a motorcycle training school in Duncan, BC., along with wife Natalie. Don has been doing rider training for a while, but now he’s a BMW-certified instructor as well, having completed their course over in Germany. He’s instructed riders in other countries, and has even worked with renowned riding instructor Simon Pavey, his teammate at the 2013 Dakar.
Find out more on the course schedule and fees at their site here. Other details about the school (location, registration requirements, etc.) are available here.
Chris Birch’s courses are for the dirt and trail racer; I think Don’s courses are for quite a different audience. I took Don’s course last year, and learned tons. Gained lots of confidence, and it’s worth the money, even the increased price. The guy is the real deal, not like a lot of other outfits out there.
Why not take a course from someone who wins races instead for half the price:

Well, he might have re-branded/named his school, but it isn’t new by any stretch. In fact, a friend, who’s been interested in doing a course with his school tried emailing twice over the past year, but never received a reply. Incidentally, prices are up too.
