Recall #: 2014577
Models Involved: 2010-2013 Honda VFR1200
Number of Vehicles: 254
Problem: On certain motorcycles, the driveshaft universal joint may not have been properly assembled and/or may not have adequate durability as the result of manufacturing errors.
Correction:Â Dealers will replace the original driveshaft with an updated drive shaft.
Should be an easy recall,200 bikes are probably still on showroom floors.
Only heard of one example in VFR forums that I frequent of an actual fail. Otherwise, some did complain about noise, and on some reviews I heard complaints about lash. On mine (and the other one I rode) there was absolutely zero lash and no shaft jacking at all (which was present on my R1150). Hopefully the recall won’t buger it up! Love the VFR’s shaft, though I’d estimate it added atleast 40+ pounds, but at least it’s carried down low.
Come to think of it, shaft spline failures was fairly common on BMW forums.
Wow, 254 VFRs, that must be every one they sold.
merci
