Honda confirms VFR1200X coming to Canada

The 2016 Honda CrossTourer.

Honda seems to be hitting the pedal on ramping up its adventure motorcycle range with confirmation that the VFR1200X is coming to Canada for 2016. Although it’s been available in Europe since 2012, the 1200X comes to this side of the Atlantic to join the new Africa Twin, though it won’t be as dirt orientated.

Based around the sport touring VFR1200 but with a detuned and wider ratio gears, the X sports 19/17″ wire wheels, hung from USD forks/single-sided swingarm in an adventure oriented chassis. It comes with three selectable torque control modes, optional DCT, non-switchable combined ABS and Traction Control, shaft drive and an adjustable windscreen.

Despite having wire wheels, at a wet weight of 275 Kg the new X fits more into the adventure touring market, suitable  for those who may chose to sample the odd bit of gravel road, rather than launching into mud holes. It will be available in Candy Prominence Red/Graphite Black and now heads the growing ‘X’ family of semi-adventurous Honda machines.

No word on when it will be in dealers or for how much just yet.
