KTM announces Canadian pricing for 1290 Super Duke R (updated)

It often takes a long time for KTM’s new releases to make it to Canada, but that shouldn’t be the case with the new 1290 Super Duke R.

According to KTM, the R and GT models will be available in North America as early 2017 models in the fall of 2016. That’s still a long delay for some fans, but it’s better than the wait times we’ve had for other models from the Austrian manufacturer.

KTM’s specs put pricing for the R at $18,899/TBD, so we’re guessing the CAD dollar’s rise or fall will have a lot to do with that number, and they don’t want to nail down a firm price yet. The GT should be priced by the end of 2016.

The 690 Duke R is not coming to Canada but KTM Canada will be bringing in the new non-R version, still claimed to be the most powerful single-cylinder motorcycle (allegedly!) in Canada.

NOTE – this article has been updated. The original article gave the price for the 1290 GT model when in fact it is the price for the R model.

  1. What is never mentioned is the PDI and Freight in addition to the price plus taxes. One would think that this PDI, which differs between dealerships, should be included in the price. Plus the freight that also varies. A cost that always turns a guy or gal off the sale.
