Denny Morrison back on ice after May’s bike crash

We told you about Canadian Olympic Speed Skater, Denny Morrison’s serious motorcycle crash back in May of this year when he hit a car in a junction in Calgary, Alberta. The impact was sufficient to flip the car, leaving Morrison with a broken leg, punctured lung, torn knee ligament, fractured bone in his spine, bruising of some internal organs and a concussion.

He was lucky to survive, never mind get back and compete on the ice once again. However, he has done just that and was back on skates this week, training with the men’s pursuit team.

According to an article on CBC, his recovery is still not 100%, and he concedes that despite vowing to be ready for the World Cup season-opener Nov. 13-15 in Calgary, he’s now reigned in his expectations and is aiming to be back up to full fitness in time for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

“Just because you’re a fast healer doesn’t mean you can become arrogant about it and not do your due diligence in healing the right way and not rushing into things.”
