According to a British publication, the Honda Bulldog will make it into production.
Visordown claims a dealer told them the adventurous-looking concept bike unveiled by Honda on the show circuit last March is going to be sold as a production model. We haven’t seen any other source making this claim lately, just to be clear.
You can see our write-up on the original concept bike here.
The Bulldog would be an interesting project for Honda. It obviously apes the rugged styling of the long-running Ruckus scooter, a perennial favourite, and seems to be aimed squarely at the adventure crowd. However, there are some non-adventurous touches, particularly the 15-inch cast wheels. That lowslung exhaust would likely be an early casualty of an off-road expedition as well.
Honda dubbed the bike a “Lovable Touring Partner” when it was originally unveiled, so it might be intended to fill that middle-weight tourer slot that’s been empty at Honda ever since the Silver Wing’s demise.
However, if Honda wanted to build a scrambler-style bike, with modern styling, this concept would be hard to beat. Funky, original styling, a non-intimidating seat height, and a motor straight from the parts bin (it seems to be a re-worked version of their 500 cc twin) would combine to make a unique, fun bike that could come in at a much lower price than other models bearing the Scrambler name. Stay tuned.
Is nobody sick-to-death with the “SCRAMBLER” designation yet?.
