Jordan Szoke plagued with problems during MotoAmerica racing

Jordan Szoke’s visit to the US was a bit of a bust.

Last weekend, Szoke journeyed to New Jersey Motorsports Park for the final event in the MotoAmerica series. He’d entered his BMW into the Superstock series, qualifying 13th at his first visit to the track. Szoke said he had mechanical troubles all weekend, including a broken o-ring in his front fork that took away compression damping and caused front end problems.

In Race 1, Szoke managed to finish ninth in his class and 15th overall (Superstock and Superbike run in the same race, but are scored separately). That’s not the result he’d hoped for, but it was far better than Race 2.

“I got a great start and was right up there with the lead Superstock pack until my bike was blown right out from under me,” said Szoke. “I got hit so hard from behind I was flying through the air. I was really lucky not to get run over. Now I’m bruised up, hurt my elbow, wrecked my leathers and made a mess of my beautiful motorcycle.”

So, Szoke returns home without the results he’d hoped for, but he did say enjoyed racing in MotoAmerica under Wayne Rainey. Maybe next year we’ll see the Fastest Man in Canada try his luck in the USA once more.

  1. There were several other Canadians there as well, who also had issues for what ever reason. Stacey Nesbitt had a transmission failure and couldn’t start either race after she qualified. Braeden Ortt crashed and broke his right hand in the KTM qualifying but still raced in both races and finished 2nd overall. He’s off to Silverstone for the international finals. Mitch Card had issues and didn’t qualify for the 600 Supersport event.
