After winning the 2015 Canadian Superbike championship handily, Jordan Szoke is headed south for a wildcard entry in the MotoAmerica series.

Szoke will race at New Jersey Motorsports Park in the Sept. 11-13 race weekend; he’s entering his Beemer in the Superstock 1000 class, which runs concurrently with the Superbike series but is scored separately. It’s his first race at that track, but he figures he can learn it quickly. Maybe this season’s success at Edmonton has emboldened him?

Szoke raced for the Corona Suzuki team in the US in 2003 for a whole season, and has done wildcard appearances since then, but hasn’t raced down there in a while. His goal is a top-three finish. He’s hoping to add more points to his total in the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy series – he currently leads German racer Markus Reiterberger by 40 points. The way the rules were explained at the start of the year, it seemed as if racers could only count points from one series; however, on BMW’s official scoresheet, Reiterberger has point totals from three series. So, Szoke’s plan to pick up some points in the US is a savvy gamble, if it’s within the rules, as there’s a lot of money at stake with the BMW championship.
