If you grew up in the 1970s, you most likely remember watching Evel Knievel’s stunt work. Now, a new feature film is going to explore the backstories behind the motorcycle daredevil’s work.
Whether it was jumping over buses and breaking bones, jumping over the fountain at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and breaking bones or jumping over sharks (literally) and breaking bones, Knievel was the wild madman of the 1970s who captured every kid’s imagination, and probably their father’s imagination too. Although today’s motorcycle stuntmen are far more professional and safety-conscious, how many have a toy modeled after them that has become iconic of their era? Seriously, folks.
Anyway — the guy behind all those Jackass movies, Johnny Knoxville, is working on a new movie about Knievel’s life, and you can see a clip from the film below, as well as the trailer. It was a selection at Sundance this year, so it has got to be a little more intelligent than some other works from Knoxville’s catalogue. Plus, Knoxville has taken to wearing hipster glasses, so maybe he’s turned the corner towards becoming a respected filmmaker?

Never been a fan of Knoxville, but this is going on my list of must see movies when it comes out. Being a kid in the ’70″s Evel was the Man.
