You’re going to a lot of effort to document your travels. Are there existing films or books that have inspired you to do this?
Not as the initial inspiration, no. That was all Avery. But after we started laying out plans we wanted to be able to share as much of what was happening, and from the perspective of the rider. We watched “Long Way Round” and “The Greasy Hands Preachers” before we left, but we’d already had a pretty good idea that we wanted to use multiple mediums.
Before we left countless amounts of people said “I wish I could do that” or “I wish I’d done something like that when I was younger”. So we wanted to be able to bring those people along! That’s what’s been great about using social media to share photos on Instagram, Facebook, through our blogs and videos on our website. Our families and friends can feel like they’re with us. It also encourages people to be more adventurous in their own lives, being able to see what we’re doing while the trip is still occurring. They see us out here and it motivates them.
