Manitoba motorcycle insurance rates dropping in 2016

Most of Manitoba’s motorcyclists will see a drop in rates next season, the provincial insurance body says.

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) announced Friday they were looking to reduce rates for most motorcyclists in 2016; they say the changes they’re requesting should see about 95 per cent of riders paying less, with approximately five per cent of riders paying more next year.

MPI says Manitoba motorcycle insurance rates have dropped about 28 per cent in the last five years. That’s a stark contrast to  their next-door neighbours in Saskatchewan, where government-run insurance has climbed sharply for motorcyclists in recent years.

  1. I bought my bike new in 2014, the insurance has gone up nearly $100 each year from 17xx to 18xx to 19xx now in 2016. Pretty soon it will be cheaper to not insure it and pay the tickets if I get caught.
