Dan Kruger update: Pan Delta series opens, and other plans

Here are a few updates on Canadian roadracer Dan Kruger’s plans for 2015, as well as his first race results from this year’s Pan Delta series.

The Pan Delta series had its first two races last weekend in the city of Zuhai. Kruger had a tough practice. Grabby new brake pads caused him to crash, re-injuring the same wrist he originally had trouble with after a crash at last year’s Suzuka 8 Hour.

He bounced back from the adversity, though, and after a stop at the hospital ended up in fourth in the first race, and in third in the second race. The fourth-place finish was particularly hard-earned, as he’d been required to start from the 15th row in dead last after missing the second practice session due to his hospital visit.

After the racing, Kruger said he wasn’t sure what to think of the weekend – he was happy to get a podium, but disappointed he lost his lap record at the circuit to competitor Cory West, who won both races.

“I also need to heal up fast as the Northwest 200 is coming up soon and you need all the strength possible for that road race.  We get up to 203 mph on very bumpy country roads in Northern Ireland and I need to be fit for that event,” Kruger said.

Kruger has a busy summer ahead of him. Along with his participation in the Pan Delta series, he’s also going to be racing with the Penz13 team again in other roadracing events, including the Northwest 200 mentioned above. Penz13 is going to be at the Isle of Man TT, the Macau GP, World Endurance races and some other events. Due to his schedule, it’s unclear how many of those races Kruger will attend, but he’s sure to be one Canada’s busiest racers this summer.
