Daytona 200 will run in 2015

The Daytona 200 will return for its 74th running in 2015, thanks to the American SportBike Racing Association.

When the KRAVE Group took control of the AMA’s roadracing operations, they announced they weren’t going to run a Daytona 200 this year. But considering the 200 is one of the US’s most famous races and with thousands in town to take in Bike Week festivities, it’s no surprise that the Daytona International Speedway didn’t want to see the race die. So, they’ve given the ASRA the go-ahead to run the event.

The race will take place March 14 at 1 p.m.; there will be 57 laps and the purse will be $175,000. The race will be for 600-class sportbikes, not litrebikes.

We’re sure there will be several Canadian racers interested in the series. We’ll try to let you know if we learn of any Canucks headed south to compete.
