BC man aims to ride Dakar as first amputee entry

A man from West Vancouver has set his sights on an exceptionally tough goal. He wants to not only compete in the Dakar Rally, he wants to do it as an amputee.

Erez Avramov lost his right leg in a car accident four years ago, and faced an uphill battle just re-learning to ride his motorcycle. He’s not only learned to ride again, he’s even off-roading now, but he’s never run a rally yet. That means he’s got a long, long way to go to get to Dakar; it’s not as if you can just show up and run what ya brung, and hope to finish. Even some experienced riders have trouble getting an entry, let alone surviving the race and putting down competitive times.

But Avramov seems to be very determined to succeed in his dream. You can read more about his efforts here, and watch his video about his struggles below.
