This weekend in Nova Scotia: Horizons Unlimited offers day passes

Adventure riders in the Maritimes have long been asking for an organized meet-up. This year, they got lucky: They got two. There’s CMG’s Fundy Adventure Rally in September (sign up now!) and this weekend, Horizons Unlimited has a rally in southern Nova Scotia.

The HUBB meet-up in Annapolis Royal, NS, runs Friday to Sunday; you can buy day passes for Friday and Saturday. Presenters include Terry Burt, whose trip around Labrador featured on CMG last summer, and many others. David Allen, who rode the TCAT, will be there, and there will be presentations on bike setup, first aid care and more. You can find more details here.

If you don’t know about Horizons Unlimited, you can find out more about the organization here. It was founded by Canadian  Grant and Susan Johnson, who have been promoting world travel since their old RTW trip began in the 1980s. Horizons Unlimited now has chapters around the globe organizing rallies for travelers to drop in, or for prospective travelers to learn. They also offer several instructive DVDs, and their web forum is a popular source of round-the-world trip information.

Word on the street is that Editor ‘Arris will be in the area at the NS HUBB meeting as well, so if you head down there for a drop-in, keep an eye open for a lanky Englishman and say hello.
