MotoGP, Michelin ink tire deal

MotoGP owner/organizer Dorna has put together a deal with Michelin that will see the French firm supplying the race series with tires, starting in 2016.

Back at the start of the month, Dorna announced their ties with Bridgestone, the current tire supplier, would be ended at the end of the 2015 season. They put the official tire supply contract out for bid, to see who else was interested. Supposedly, they had three companies that wanted in on the action, but only one submitted an official bid – Michelin. That might come as a bit of surprise, because onlookers reckoned Dunlop would be very interested in the contract, as they already supply the Moto2 and Moto3 series.

Now that Michelin’s in and Bridgestone’s out, they are working on the terms of their new contract.
