Three-wheeled thrills

The 2014 Dakar Rally is about to get underway at this point. And yeah, it’s impressive – the world’s most rugged vehicles blasting through the South American desert is a concept so fun that it should be illegal.

However, there’s an even more intense rally also kicking off this week. The Adventurists’ 2014 Rickshaw Run has begun. This madcap caper takes participants 3,500 kms across India in rickety rickshaws. That’s right, the participants are blasting through the crowded sub-continent on three-wheeled deathtraps with the horsepower rating of a snowblower.

You can read more about the adventure here, and you can even follow the progress live here. If you want to see last year’s promo video for the run, check below.

Getting it backwards

Blind spot? What blind spot?

Baring it all

Thankfully, the spectators were spared most of the grisly details once the biker started his burnout.

Normally, the reason people strip down in public at this time of the year is to go for a polar bear dip on Jan. 1 – and they’re usually considerate enough to leave on a pair of trunks or something. Not this crazy German, though! In a desperate quest to draw attention to the Baller Boyz Facebook page, this stunter said he’d go for a spin in the winter cold – naked. They filmed the stunt, but YouTube decided to remove it, as it apparently violated their rules.

The clothing-optional burnout in Munster’s Christmas Market has also apparently kicked off a police search. Our suggestion for tracking down the suspect? Simply do a search of local emergency rooms for frostbite victims …

All wet

Guy Martin is best-known for his antics in roadracing, especially at the Isle of Man, but on his television show Speed With Guy Martin, he’s about to show his attempt at a two-wheeled endeavor –  riding on water. Martin and crew decided to set a record for longest distance ridden on water. Check out the clip below to get a taste of the insanity. We just hope the experience isn’t … watered down … for television viewers.

    • I used to have a friend who spent a fair bit of time up north and she had all sorts of tales of that sort of derringdo aboard sleds up there. I remember when I was growing up in Summerside, PEI, the “thing to do” in winter was take your sled and rip under the Wilmot River bridge on the east side of town, whether or not the water was open.
