Tragically, we have to announce the death of another Canadian racer, John Ross MacRae of Calgary. J.R. crashed his XR1200 Harley-Davidson race bike in Saturday qualifying at Ste-Jovite as part of the Mopar Canadian Superbike series, and passed away in hospital that night.

J.R. was a top competitor in the XR1200 class and this season was also pushing the top end of the Sport Bike class on a Triumph 675, finishing second in the season standings despite his passing.

“John Ross MacRae was one of the bright young stars in our sport and his loss is a great tragedy for Canadian racing,” said series Director of Competition Colin Fraser. “He was very popular with his fellow competitors and was greatly respected.”

CMG’s sincere sympathies go out to the MacRae family and his many friends.
