This weekend: Going Sideways at the sidecar rally

A Ural would be just the rig for riding across Siberia - but we might recommend a snowmobile suit.
Any motorcyclist with an interest in sidecars is welcome at the rally, but we're betting a lot of two-wheeled attendees will start looking for hacks once they leave the rally.

Sidecars: Who doesn’t love ’em?

Well, Kurylyk’s wife thinks they look dorky, but just about everyone else who matters knows that sidecars are hip. Grandparents, grandkids and everyone in between knows there’s something cool about bolting together a hack and cruising. And this weekend, in Ennismore, Ontario, you can check out the Going Sideways sidecar rally, for an extra-generous helping of sidecar action, thanks to the Canadian Sidecar Owners Club.

You can get the full details of the rally here, but here’s the basics: there’s going to be onsite camping, a BBQ, and of course there will be activities and prizes. The action starts at noon Friday and runs through until 11 a.m. Sunday.

Any motorcycle or scooterist with an interest in sidecars is welcome. We can think of much worse ways to spend your weekend!

  1. My dad had a Jawa 350 2-smoker with a sidecar. We used to go riding together, me on my RD400 Daytona Special. I was always in awe when he’d lift the rig going through a corner. As squidly as I usually rode the RD, I think I’d be inclined to keep the rig on the ground. 🙂
