Honda to big-bore NC700: Rumour

British mag Visordown is reporting that Honda is planning to big-bore the NC700.

Supposedly, the plan is to increase displacement by 50 cc  over the current 670 cc; the NC700 series could keep its name, or become the NC750 series. We assume the new CTX cruiser lineep, which is built around the same engine, would also get the same upgrades.

Visordown doesn’t list any sources for the information, so it may just be a wild rumour, but it would make sense.

Honda has a learner-friendly lineup of 500s now, so the NC series could be re-worked to appeal to more experienced motorcyclists with a little tweaking. There are very few riders who’d complain about having a little more speed.

The changes would supposedly take place for next year’s bikes.

  1. Is it just me, but doesn’t it seem that there’s no coxswain in Honda’s boat?

I mean the NC700 & CB500 share pretty similar engine philosophies, so now Honda needs to boost the 700’s displacement 7.5% to separate the two in the market? On a model introduced in 2012.
