The Isle of Man TT is just around the corner, and Mugen has taken the wraps off their electric race bike they’ll be running this year.

Last year, IOM legend John McGuinness rode the Mugen, likely due to the team’s long-running co-operation with Honda. He’ll be riding their electric machine again in 2013. The racing starts May 25.

Mugen has upgraded this machine from last year’s model by crunching the numbers they gathered from last year’s data. They’ve done wind tunnel and engine bench testing to work on this new machine, and they’re hoping it can provide McGuinness another avenue of domination at the classic motorcycle race.

The machine weighs 240 kg, with a 1485 mm wheelbase, and twin-spar frame. It puts out about 90 hp and 220 Nm of torque. It has a lithium ion battery and three phase brushless DC motors.
