It seems Kawasaki is stripping down their Ninja 250 for the foreign market.

Pictures from Asia today show Team Green unveiling a new naked, dubbed the Z250. The bike is based around the same water-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve parallel twin that’s found in the Ninja 250 (as sold to the rest of the globe – we have a 300 cc version here in North America). Styling echoes Kawasaki’s bigger Z800 naked bike.

According to TMC blog, there won’t be an ABS version of this machine, leading us to believe this may be aimed at the budget market.

TMC says the bike will come in black, white and red. Like the Ninja, the bike will be made in Thailand.

It’s unclear if there will be a 300 cc version of this machine headed anywhere in the world, let alone Canada. Since we’re missing out on the quarter-litre Ninja, though, it’d be great if the 250 cc version made it to Canada – it’d make a great machine for the Dawn til Dusk rally.

Update: According to Canadian Kawasaki, this machine is only intended for Asian and emerging markets – for now. If you want this bike, let us, or your local Kawi dealer, know. You can also comment on their Facebook page.

  1. I want this bike in Canada, It’d be amazing for my first bike. I’m getting the suzuki inazuma, but if the Kawasaki z250 was available here I’d get that one for sure and i love the half-nakedness!

It amazes me that you can’t see the engine for all the fairing on the bike, yet they call it naked? My version of naked differs.
