You can never rule Cyril Despres out at Dakar, unless he wrecks his bike or ends up seriously injured.

Despres charged ahead on Day Six in Chile (finishing third) to pass David Casteau in the overall rankings for second place. He’s still behind Olivier Pain, who finished the day in tenth spot, but he’s nipping at his heels.

Chaleco Lopez won yesterday’s racing for KTM, and Ruben Faria was second. Faria’s in fifth place overall, now, thanks to his consistency this year. Lopez is just ahead of him, in fourth place overall.
