Triumph to build a 250

Could this 250 from Triumph be the machine that turns the company into a manufacturer for the masses?

Everybody’s doing it, including Triumph.

Of course, we’re talking about 250 cc motorcycles. Quarter-litre machines have made a big comeback in the last couple of years, and most manufacturers have a model in the lineup, or in the works. For two years, there have been rumours that Triumph was working on a machine in this category, but they denied them.

The cat is out of the bag now, though, with word that Hinkley is planning to build a twin-cylinder 250 at their plant in Narsapur, India. Production is supposed to start in 2014. The bike will have naked styling and a liquid-cooled motor.

The bike is supposed to carry a price tag similar to Japanese 250s, like Kawasaki’s Ninja or Honda’s CBR. There’s no word on whether it’ll make it to Canada, but it seems Triumph plans to sell it throughout Asia.
