Husqvarna’s Joan Barreda started the day in 24th position but took Day Four of the Dakar rally yesterday, putting him in fourth place overall.

Barreda, a member of the Speedbrain racing team, has taken two of four stages so far. Cyril Despres, last year’s champion, finished the day in third place overall. Yamaha’s Olivier Pain is in first place overall at the moment; another Yamaha rider, David Casteau, is in second place overall.

Husqvarna also has another rider in the top 10 overall standings – Jordi Viladoms is in fifth place.

Canadian Patrick Beaule is in 57th place on the scratch rankings (before penalties are applied).
