MV Agusta unveils 2013 Brutale lineup

MV Agusta has announced their 2013 Brutale lineup; there’ll be three versions of the bike, the Brutale 1090, the Brutale 1090 R, and the Brutale 1090 RR.

The Brutale has been re-designed visually for 2013. MV Agusta has added daytime running lights for both safety and a change in looks. The engine is now painted silver, and wheels (now lighter) and exhaust have both been tweaked as well.

It appears the motorcycles will share the same basic motor, but it makes 144 hp in the standard model and the R model, while the RR model sees that number boosted to 158 hp. The RR model also gets a slipper clutch and a wheelbase that’s 8 mm longer (1438 mm, compared to 1430 mm).

The Brutale models all feature 50 mm front forks, with external adjustments for compression on one leg and rebound on the other, and spring preload adjustment on both. The RR also has some extra options to tinker around with low and high speed damping. All models also feature an axle carrier that’s designed for quick removal of the front wheel.

The standard and R model Brutales both have 310 mm dual disc, four-piston brakes up front; the RR model has 320 mm brake discs up front. All models have a 220 mm single disc in rear, and the RR model has Brembo monobloc calipers up front as well.

Electronically speaking, the Brutales will have eight levels of traction control, and two levels of maximum power output.

The modular frame has a steel trellis section as well as aluminum plates, added for torsional stiffness. The bikes all have a single-sided swingarm for 2013.

We don’t know Canadian pricing or availability yet, but pricing across the pond is 12,990 Euros for the standard model (available in matte black, matte white, or matte grey paint), 13,990 Euros for the R model (available in metallic black, pastel red, or silver) and 16,990 Euros for the RR model (available in pastel red/silver, metallic gold/white, or metallic blue/white).

By the way, it also seems the 1090 models replace all the previous four-cylinder Brutales MV Agusta made; now, when the 675 Brutale is released, it’ll be MV Agusta’s entry naked bike, not the 920.
