Brett McCormick is expected to return to Canada today.

Injured Canadian WSBK racer Brett McCormick will be out of action for two or three months, his team says.

McCormick was injured Sunday in a high-speed crash at the World Superbike race in Assen. He ended up with a lumbar fracture, as well as fractures of the 5th and 6th cervical vertebra. Despite the seriousness of those injuries, team management at Effenbert Liberty says he has no spinal damage.

However, he’s in a great deal of pain, and he’ll have to wear a back brace and collar for the next few weeks to immobilize the injure body parts.

McCormick is expected to leave the Assen hospital today, to be flown back to Canada. Team management says he’s kept his positive attitude, and they’re looking forward to his return.
