Problem: The connecting rod bolts in the motor could loosen and separate from the connecting rod, causing the rear-wheel to lock-up if the engine fails and seizes, which could cause a crash. Additionally engine failure may also cause oil to leak in front of the rear tire, which may render the vehicle unstable.
Correction:Â Dealers will replace connecting rod bolts and apply a thread-locking agent to the bolts.
I was told today by the Los Angeles BMW dealer that BMW is not making any additional 2012 S 1000 RRs other than the 1414 recalled units. The existing 1414 recalled units will be rebuilt either at dealerships or at the factory. I have the option of either buying a rebuilt recall unit in 2012 or wait until 2013 for a new model. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.
oil in fron tof the tire may??? cause the vehicle to become unstable?? but not crash apparently. Who writes this stuff?
