Boat bust
Question: Who’s a big cheater that’s in trouble with the law? The answer: Dani Pedrosa!
It all went down on the April Fools Day weekend, but apparently it’s true: the MotoGP star was recently questioned by police for cheating – on a yachting exam.
Apparently, Pedrosa and a bunch of other students at a Spanish boating exam were caught with earpieces to help them acquire yachting licenses. Trouble is, the police came along and hauled them downtown. Pedrosa ended up with a charge after the incident, and through his website, issued a statement that he’d made a mistake. No kidding!
Thankfully for Pedrosa, he doesn’t have to rely on a career as a mariner just yet; his MotoGP career is afloat for now, although with word of this activity sailing around, we bet management may wonder if it’s best to just cut him adrift.
A reel cool custom
We don’t show many custom motorcycles on CMG, but here’s one that’s a bit different, and pretty cool.
Does anyone still remember that 1988 film Akira? This animated Japanese cyberpunk classic, based on a 2182-page manga graphic novel, showed the dystopian world of 2019. According to Wikipedia, “The plot focuses on biker Tetsuo Shima (Nozomu Sasaki) and his psychic powers and the biker gang member Shotaro Kaneda (Mitsuo Iwata), who tries to prevent Tetsuo from releasing the dangerous psychic Akira.”
It’s a classic cult film, and just like Tron, the motorcycles still hold a place in some viewer’s hearts. That’s why Shinji Tejima spent several years and about 10 million yen creating a replica of the motorcycle ridden by Akira in the film. It’s the only bike that’s officially recognized by the film’s creator for being a faithful replica.
Tejima isn’t content with just letting the bike lay around a showroom, though; he recently donned a set of leathers matching the outfit Akira wore in the film, and toured several Japanese cities to raise money for charity. Now, the bike is on display at the Katsuhiro Otomo GENGA Exhibition until the end of May, as part of the exhibition’s efforts to raise funds for victim’s of last year’s tsunami and earthquake.

Who’s pitching electric motorcycles these days? Why, Fabio, that’s who! That might sound strange at first, but he’s a huge motorcycle enthusiast, and after appearing on the cover of countless romance novels, he should know a thing or two about making sparks fly.
Check out the video below! The only thing more incongruous than seeing the floppy-haired fop talking bikes, is to hear him talk about high gas prices.
Extreme drifting
There are two kinds of motorcycle drifting videos. The first usually involves an energy drink sponsor, a pack of photographers, an irritating soundtrack, and choppy video editing.
The second involves actual snow drifts. Check out Enduro Alaska’s further adventures in the unthawed north regions of our continent, once again aboard the BW350, as well as a weird motorcycle/snowmobile hybrid, called the Snowhawk.
The other kind
And here’s an example similar to the other kind of drifting video, in which a Triumph Street Triple is vigorously flogged about off-road.
