Colin Edwards will miss the final race of the 2011 MotoGP season.
Edwards was injured last week during his collision with Marco Simoncelli at Sepang. Simoncelli died after the crash, and Edwards’ left arm sustained several small fractures, as well as cartilage damage.
That means Edwards missed Simoncelli’s funeral, and he’s going to miss the last race of the season. Now it’s AMA superbike champion Josh Hayes’ big chance to prove himself – he’s racing for Yamaha in Edwards’ place.
We’re sure Hayes would have rather made his entry under happier circumstances, but he worked hard to get here, fighting his way to the AMA superbike championship this year.
Edwards says his arm will be completely healed in a few weeks. He’s riding for Forward Racing next season, so this also means he’s had his final race for Yamaha Tech 3.
