Cyclechex coming soon

Cyclechex may soon be able to tell you if it’s a jewel or a lump of coal.

Here’s the thing about buying a used motorcycle: You can save a lot of money buying second-hand, but you could also be buying someone else’s problems. That’s where Cyclechex comes in.

They provide a service similar to CARFAX – a title search through their company can trace disclosed damage, decode VIN numbers, identify stolen, salvaged or damaged titles, find recall history, and even give you the bike’s last recorded odometer reading.

The service is only available for U.S.-registered bikes for now, but a company exec says they are setting their sights on the Canadian market this fall.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in a bike from the U.S., 30-day access for a single-bike report costs $24.95 U.S.; three bikes cost $49.95 U.S. The information is available through Cyclechex, or you can download an iPhone app.
