KYMCO gets onboard with Kawasaki

Kawasaki Heavy Industries and the Kwang Yang Motor Company — better known as KYMCO — have partnered to create a new motor production facility in China.

The joint venture company will be called Changzhou Kawasaki and Kwang Yang Engine Company, or CK&K, and will build a factory in the Changzhou National Hi-tech District of China that will begin production of general purpsoe gasoline engines "and parts to be sold internationally for both brands," early in 2010.

Production capacity of the new plant will be about 200,000 units a year.

KYMCO says on its website that the company "has confidence that Kawasaki will transfer (many) more models to CK&K in the future."
