Sturgis by rented Harley

Some people have no shame, it seems — and you’ll find them riding rented Harley-Davidsons at Sturgis.

The EagleRider motorcycle rental company will have motorcycles for rent in the little South Dakota city for the 68th annual Black Hills Motorcycle Rally, one of North America’s biggest biker get-togethers in the history of biker get-togethering. Half a million people are expected for the rally that runs Aug. 4 – 10.

EagleRider is official rental company for Sturgis and will have late-model Harley-Davidsons available even for last-minute renters.

EagleRider made renting motorcycles easy back in the early 1990s and these days offers American, Japanese, and European motorcycles for rent at locations around the world.

So for those afficionados who must make an appearance at the premier biker event but don’t have the cajones to ride there, there’s still a way to look like a real biker, at least for a little while.

Meanwhile, John Fogerty and Kiss will perform (separately), and there’ll be machine-gun shooting and a fake orgasm contest (separately) — so there are good reasons to go to Sturgis, no matter how you get there.

  1. South Dakota Governor proclaims KISS ROCK AND ROLL DAY

The classic rock band KISS will appear at Glencoe Campground/Rock’n the Rally on August 4 to accept a proclamation from Governor Mike Rounds, presented by Sturgis Mayor Maury LaRue, prior to their concert.

WHERE: Backstage at Glencoe Campground/Rock’n the Rally – Sturgis, S.D.

    WHEN: August 4, 2008

WHY: KISS has tirelessly supported the United States military, and has visited numerous American military bases around the world to meet the troops, sign autographs and show their support.

  2. Why don’t these people just ride there? I mean, if they’re going to the rally clearly they enjoy riding… I don’t get it. I just started working as a brand ambassador for Progressive motorcycle insurance, so I guess I’m uninformed. We’re actually going to be at Sturgis, giving away free shirts at our booth at Thunder Road. We’re also having a drawing to win a custom Sucker Punch Sally’s motorcycle (so you won’t have to rent again :grin). If you’d like a free shirt, just go to motorcycle.progressive.com and print out a coupon, then bring it to our booth! Hope to see you there 🙂
