Too many rallies

One rally good, two rallies bad

Why can’t we all just get along? Competition for rally visitors is heating up in central Pennsylvania.

With two organizations planning to hold motorcycle rallies on the same weekend, in the same county, one of them has to go, it seems.

For two years, Kenneth Knisley has staged a rally called Roar in the Mountains at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, Penn. Now, the Jaffa Shrine wants to hold their own rally, which they plan to call "Rumble Through the Alleghenies," perhaps because Knisley’s rally has moved out.

Roar in the Mountains will go to the Legion Park in Hollidaysburg, which is just down the road from Altoona.

Both rallies are set up for the same September weekend.

Knisley has hired a lawyer, who has filed an injunction to stop the Jaffa Shrine from holding their rally. The Jaffa people say the county should be able to manage two rallies at the same time.

It’s up to a judge to decide who’s right. A hearing is set for Mar. 24.
