After
completion of the second WSB pre-season test in Australia, Yukio
Kagayama on his Alstare Suzuki claimed the fastest time, just pipping
Troy Bayliss on his Xerox Ducati by a 10th of a second.
Bayliss ended the test on a sour note, however, as he high-sided
himself in an aborted pass of new Kawasaki rider Regis Laconi and
fractured a collarbone.

Early
indications are that he should be healed within three weeks, in good
time to start the season.

Meanwhile,
Bayliss’ new team-mate Michel Fabrizio continued to impress,
setting the third-fastest time of the test. Yet another Ducati, that
of Ruben Xaus on the Sterilgarda Go-Eleven bike, was fourth, while
Kagayama’s team-mate Fonsi Nieto was fifth with the Yamahas of Nori
Haga and Troy Corser close behind.

The season starts February 24 in Qatar, then it’s back to Australia for
the second round on March 4.
