BMW will compete on the World Superbike stage in 2009, using a completely new four-cylinder, 1,000 cc motorcycle. The bike will be developed during the 2008 season.
No word yet on riders, but the company will partner with Technik GmbH of Germany, which has experience in development and in Superbike racing.
“We know it won’t be easy,” said Peter Muller, a VP with BMW Motorrad. “We anticipate that we will be able to establish ourselves successfully within the strong international competitive field with our new motorcycle.”
